I am posting this in hopes that the family who has linked their Horace Foster to the Horace Foster of Machiasport views this and understands they have made a mistake in their family line. First, the Horace Foster of Machiasport has a clear paper trail with several records showing his parents to be Francis Foster and Sarah, her last name unknown. Other than this Horace Foster, the only other Horace Foster living in Machiasport was his son, also named Horace. And we have The Libby Family In America, 3 vols. that also state the Horace Foster of Machiasport parents was Francis and Sarah Foster, it is well documented. But we went one step further and got in touch with a living relative who confirmed the Horace Foster of Machiasport, his parents were indeed Francis and Sarah Foster.
Yet on a couple websites some one has followed the wrong Horace Foster, linking their family line to the Horace Foster in Machiasport, when in fact the Horace Foster they want was born in East Machias, not Machiasport, and his parents were named correctly as Samuel and Comfort Foster. Horace Foster of Machiasport, Maine lived his entire life in only two places, St. George Maine and Machiasport, Maine. Than there is the difference in age, there is an 11 year gap between the birth of Samuel and Comforts son and Horace and Nancy Libby's son. Clearly the Horace Foster of East Machias if not the Horace Foster of Machiasport as each has multiple records going back to different parents.
